Excess skin and fat can be removed as needed to help skin appear smoother. The incisions typically heal as inconspicuous hairline scars.

A facelift will result in some swelling and bruising, most of which will have resolved within two weeks. Some discomfort is expected during the first 48 hours, but significant pain is uncommon.
